About
Jan has worked across different roles in the contemporary art world for more than 25 years.
As a curator at Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig, he organized breakthrough exhibitions from its 1998 opening until 2003. The program featured then-emerging artists like Sarah Morris, Olafur Eliasson, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Michael Elmgreen & Ingar Dragset, and Tobias Rehberger.
In 2003, he opened his own gallery in Berlin, participating in major international fairs including Art Basel, Art Cologne, The Armory Show in New York, and Miami's NADA Art Fair.
As the digital era emerged, mobile and online art services became increasingly vital. Jan explored the intersection of art and digital technology, launching EYEOUT—the first art guide app—which later evolved into the international platform Exhibitionary. In 2012, he developed ArtEngine, a web-based inventory software for artists and collectors. Amazing Editions followed in 2015, offering works by leading artists at accessible prices.
After a decade immersed in digital ventures, Jan returned to hands-on engagement with art, exhibitions, and gallery operations. In 2021, he joined Wentrup Gallery as senior director, where he helped expand the gallery's international presence and navigate the challenges of the post-pandemic art market.
In 2025, Jan founded his own art advisory company. With a dual approach, he focuses on helping international clients develop their collections while also serving as an independent art agent, providing strategic and organizational guidance for artists' studios.
